Well, our patience on the eagerly-awaited release of WordPress 3 has finally paid off. The new WordPress 3 contains a whole slew of brand new really cool shit that takes it from a “really good blogging platform” to now being a “really good CMS”. The new flexibility of this version–chiefly in my opinion, the new post type stuff–really opens this up to a host of new website requirements when it comes to choosing the CMS’s.

Briefly, here’s a  few of the new goodies in WordPress 3:

  • Spankin’ new default theme to play with called Twenty Ten. It’s actually really nice, and useful as-is nearly for a website…  especially compared to that–whatever it was even called–default theme of prior WordPress versions.
  • Menus! Like, you can make menus. Navigation bars. What a concept. Totally rad.
  • Custom post types. This one is the biggie.
